# Companion

If you plan to use MixEffect with a Stream Deck, you'll want to download the free [Companion application from Bitfocus.io](https://bitfocus.io/companion/).

Next, configure the Companion app to communicate with MixEffect. There are currently two ways to control MixEffect from Companion:
